What We Do
Since 2013 our program has provided groceries to elementary school students and their families on a weekly basis. The Port Alberni Backpack Program Society currently distributes weekend food bags to 125 elementary aged school children and their families, which include a recipe and all the ingredients to make the recipe as well as supplementary food items. This provides supplementation over the weekend when school-based programs are not available.
The Port Alberni Backpack Program Society is a not-for-profit organization with charitable status. Our program is solely run by volunteers and donations.
